For over 11 years, Kirstie served as the Director of Special Olympics Tennis and is a founding member of Abilities Tennis, a nonprofit focused on expanding opportunities for individuals with special needs. Her work in adaptive tennis inspired the creation of the PEAT curriculum, now used in schools across Wake County and beyond.
Beyond the courts, Kirstie is a published children’s book author. Drawing from her childhood in Denmark, she created a charming story featuring the Blessing Nisser, encouraging children to serve others and embrace meaningful traditions. Her book offers families a heartfelt way to celebrate Christmas with purpose, creativity, and joy.
Kirstie enjoys time with her husband of 30 years, Rich, their two daughters, son-in-law, and her newest joy — her first granddaughter, who lovingly calls her “Poppy.” She is an active member of The Shepherd’s Church in Cary and loves playing tennis, reading, and traveling.
